Rare Red Grip S&W 2nd Model DA .38 With 5″ Barrel

A rare Smith & Wesson 2nd Model DA revolver, .38 caliber, with red mottled gutta percha grips. Serial #8120X. The pistol is in fine overall condition with a 5” barrel. The pistol retains a significant amount of nickel finish with a loss of finish at the muzzle and small areas of light surface erosion noted. The hammer and trigger show toned case color hardening. The grips are original mottled red checkered hard rubber and are in nearly excellent condition. The bore is bright, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp on this late production 2nd Model with an unusual barrel length and the much sought-after S&W factory red-mottled grips. This appears to be a special-order gun, so it would be worthwhile to get a factory history letter. (EYPE-136)
