Scoped Chilean Sporter 7×57 M1895 Rifle
A scoped Chilean M1895 Ludwig Loewe Rifle semi-sporter chambered in 7×57 Mauser, The optics are crisp and clear. This rifle’s serial # F463X indicates that the receiver was from early 1898 production — just before Loewe’s merger with DWM. Still equipped with the original German barrel, but nicely shortened to 22 inches. Has a typical recontoured sporter bolt handle for scope clearance. Ladder rear sight graduated 2,000 meters. Blade front sight. This rifle has been sporterized by shortening the stock, replacing the bolt handle with a low scope type and the addition of a Dayton-Traister MKII low scope safety. Receiver is equipped with Weaver scope bases, streamlined rings, and a high quality Weaver K4-1 scope with steel tube & duplex crosshair. The sporterizing work appears to be professionally done. Walnut stock has been refinished and a properly shaped recess added for the bolt handle. Original military rear sling swivel is present. Has a quick detachable front swivel. The stock has light wear & scattered handling marks throughout. Follower has been modified to allow bolt to close when empty. Metal retains traces of original blue turning gray and patina with light wear and spots of light oxidation. Bolt is turning gray but it has no pitting so it could easily be polished. Bore has strong lands with light frosting in the grooves. This is a practical and affordable sporter suitable for hunting or as a counter-sniper rifle. (UNC-757)
