Ludwig Loewe M1893 — Span-Am War Vintage

Scarce Spanish-American war vintage Spanish contract Mauser M1893 Rifle, 7x57mm Mauser, made by Ludwig Loewe, Berlin. This one is a bit rough, but looks authentic. Still in original military configuration, with 28″ barrel. (Not sporterized.) Bore is worn, dark, and dirty. Serialized parts are mismatched, which is quite common for re-arsenalized Spanish Mausers. Stock has been sanded, and shows some flecks that should clean off with either Scott’s Liquid Gold or with Murphy’s Oil Soap wood cleaner. Rifle appears to have been depot refinished at least once and the original crest is mostly gone from the receiver ring. However, the Loewe maker’s mark and Star of David are crisp, assuring its Spanish-American war vintage, authenticity, and antique status. (See photos.) The rear sight elevator is loose. This would make a great San Juan Hill display gun, alongside a pre-1899 Krag. (BBR-086) Price: $775
