Very Scarce Chilean Contract Loewe Mauser M1895 Cavalry Carbine

A very scarce first-year-of-production original Mauser Model 1895 cavalry saddle ring carbine chambered in 7x57mm Mauser. This Chilean contract carbine is not import-marked. It was manufactured by Loewe in Berlin in 1895. Has all matching serial numbers except the cocking piece. The rest of the carbine is serial marked A15X. The cleaning rod has an illegible serial number. The wood is about as good as I’ve seen on an original cavalry carbine. The metal shows some wear from use, but not abuse. The action and safety function fine, and the trigger pull is typical for a Model 1895. The bore is dark and pitted. It has an original Chilean brown sling with some minor cracking. A bit of history:  The Chilean military fielded M1895 Mausers in three lengths:  Rifles with 28.5″ barrels; Short Rifles with 23.5-inch barrels; and Carbines with 17.7-inch barrels. It is the carbines that are the most scarce and sought after! <GKCL-531>
