SOLD — Colt Lightning .44-40 SRC

SOLD — Rare Colt Lightning medium frame pump action Saddle Ring Carbine (SRC) in .44-40! Original, and unaltered! It has that honest “fresh off the ranch” look. This gun came from a ranch in central Idaho. Overall, it has a pleasant even gray patina. Buttplate has fairly even brown patina. The only remaining bluing I could see is on the dish of the loading gate. Saddle ring is intact. Very early 318X serial number. Possibly first year of production, from 1884! This is an early “pre-dustcover” Lightning. Has the correct flip up ladder sight, in nice condition. 20″ round barrel with 12-round magazine. Passed a muzzle bullet test. Wood is in fairly nice shape, with one small chip at heel, and one small chip at right upper rear of slide. Checkering on slide is worn, but has no cracks. Mechanically sound, but since this is a blackpowder era gun, it should be inspected by a qualified gunsmith, and then, if approved, fired only with mild handloads. (ELLM-103). Firm Price: $3,900
