Colt Model 1889 .38 Parts Gun (Pre-1899 Frame)

An incomplete Commercial Colt Model 1889 .38 Long Colt double action revolver. This revolver has a re-blued finish with some spotting.  Sideplate has a slightly different blue color, so it would look best if it was fully refinshed after it is completed. Serial #801X on frame.  Assembly # 7823 on the crane, with a  “K” inspector or batch mark. The frame was made before 1899, so this would make an affordable Federally-exempt project gun. This is being sold “as-is”, with no returns, but it is priced accordingly. The barrel address shows some softening from buffing and rebluing.  It reads: “Colt’s PT. F.A. MFG. Co. Hartford CT USA Patented Aug. 5. 1884. Nov. 6. 88. Mar. 5. 95.”  With the “95” patent date, it is likely that this revolver either went back to the factory or this was a frame that was assembled later by a gunsmith, using a Model 1895  barrel. Barrel Length is 6″.  The bore is excellent.

Parts Present:
Frame (Serial #801X — antique)
Barrel with front sight
Cylinder Crane Assembly with “K” inspector or batch stamp
Cylinder Assembly with ejector and rod (ejector works properly)

Parts Absent:

For someone with access to parts and a qualified gunsmith, since this revolver is “mostly there”, this would make a great, affordable project gun! (ERY-062)
