Bannerman M1884 Trapdoor .45-70 Short Rifle

A Bannerman M1884 Trapdoor .45-70 Short Rifle. Ser. # 16968X. 26.5″ barrel. Chambered in .45-70. Trapdoors were re-worked in fairly large numbers to this particular length by the legendary Bannerman’s of New York, mostly in the 1920s. It has same features as an 1884 rifle, but has been altered with a shortened barrel, shortened cleaning rod, and two barrel bands. Has the Model 1884 Buffington rear sight and one-piece walnut stock. Metal is a clean smooth chocolate patina. Stocks are excellent. The bore is shiny. This is a nice rifle in very good condition for its age. With its quite  handy barrel length, a shiny bore, and the desirable Buffington adjustable rear sight, this should make a great practical shooter for hunting or the target range. (BNP-884)
