Chilean M1895 Ludwig Loewe Mauser 7×57 Rifle

A Chilean contract Model 1895 Ludwig Loewe of Berlin full-length 7×57 Mauser rifle. Standard 28″ infantry barrel. Very good overall condition with about 90% original arsenal blue. Made circa 1896.  The bolt serial number is mismatched to the receiver—typical of early rifles that went back to the Chilean arsenal for a re-build. The Chilean crest is intact on receiver ring. Cleaning rod is absent. The bore is good with distinct rifling, but it has some pitting.  The rifle’s wood and metal show typical service wear. There is some rust on the buttplate, but it should clean up easily with some naval jelly. (See photos.) The stock has a visible  cartouche.  Serial number C127X.  A good representative example for any collection, and reasonably priced  And, since the numbers are mismatched, you could justify turning it into a sporter.
