Scarce .44 S&W Russian First Model DA, Blued 4″
Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action First Model Revolver with the scarce and desirable 4″ original barrel length. Original finished showing mostly gray/brown patina. Has some scattered light pitting and a few small dings. Mechanically fine in both single and double action modes. The bore is in fairly nice shootable condition. The black gutta percha factory S&W logo checkered grips appear to be original, and have faded to brown. There is a chip at the bottom of the right grip panel. (See photos.) Serial # 2798X. Pre-1899 manufactured. This would make a great Federally-exempt carry gun. Since this was originally a blued revolver (most of them were nickel plated), this is a good candidate for refinishing with either fresh bluing or with Cerakoting. (CCGE-108)
