Chilean Contract Loewe Mauser M1895 Short Rifle — Shooter Grade

A very good condition Chilean Contract Loewe Mauser M1895 Short Rifle that I’d rate as shooter grade.  This handy rifle is chambered in 7x57mm Mauser. Has 22″ barrel, blade front sight with protective ears, tangent rear sight, bayonet lug, manual safety, bent bolt handle, side-mounted sling swivels. Bore is fair, dark in grooves with strong rifling. Metal surfaces show a mottled brown over gray patina, scratches & dents. Stock is dark colored, oil-stained, with even coverage of small dents & scrapes, overall fair to good and serviceable condition. Has mismatched serial numbers. The Chilean crest on receiver ring is shallow. Cleaning rod is absent. The serial number is B292X, indicating that it was made in late-1895.  All-in-all, this is a very good “shooter grade” Mauser with a handy barrel length.  This would be a good candidate for rebluing and turning and/or a scout rifle.
