Shortened Ludwig Loewe M1891 Argentine Mauser

A nicely-shortened Ludwig Loewe M1891 7.65 Argentine Mauser rifle.  Very good+  overall condition as refinished. The barrel was originally 28.5″, but has been neatly shortened to a more practical length. The original military stock has had its forend shortened, to match  The stock has been finished, but still shows typical dings from military field use. The front band is still present. The bolt handle is unaltered.  The buttstock has fairly plain and sturdy straight grain. It still has its original military sling swivels.  The cleaning rod has been removed, but the cleaning rod channel was left open. The bayonet lug has been moved back properly, so a bayonet can still be mounted. It is still chambered in 7.65mm Argentine Mauser. Serial # P008X.  (Manufactured circa 1897.)  The bolt serial number is mismatched. The crest has been buffed off, which is typical for imported Argentine Mausers. The action functions smoothly. The original military ladder sight is present, and it works properly. Other than the receiver crest area, the bluing on this rifle is about 98%. Has beautiful original electric bluing in the bolt stop and magazine follower.  The bore is nice and shiny, with sharp rifling. This should make a great knock-around shooter for practical use as a truck gun or ATV gun. Note that Norma and PPU factory 7.65mm Argentine Mauser softnose ammo is readily available. Ballistically, it is similar to .308 Winchester.  A very useful and reasonably–priced rifle that is also a Federally-exempt antique. (BEE-189)
