Scarce Steyr Dutch M.95 Indonesian Carbine .303 Arsenal Conversion

A very scarce Dutch Steyr Mannlicher Geweer M.95 Indonesian Arsenal Conversion .303 British Carbine. This was a Dutch military contract bolt-action carbine. Steyr receiver  an 1897-dated receiver!  Has a 17.5″ barrel and is fitted with a post-WW2 military muzzle brake and bayonet mount. Serial # A466X.  Blade front sight. Elevator rear sight graduated to 1200 meters. Mismatched numbers, which is typical of rearsenalized guns. Receiver top has a five-pointed star and 1953 rearsenalization date. Left side of receiver has Steyr marking and 1897 original manufacture date stamp. Blued finish. Hardwood stock set with bottom-mounted sling swivels and post WWII  leather sling in worn condition. The sanded stock set has several plug repairs including one to a sling slot, a small crack at forend tip, a few abrasions, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal retains 70% arsenal rework blue with edge wear, some dings on bolt handle, scattered fading, oxidation and arsenal rebluing over some older pitting. The action functions properly when hand-cycled. Dark bore with pitting. Note that the Indonesian Armed Forces rechambered most of their M.95 rifles and carbines to .303 British. This carbine is in remarkably good condition, considering Indonesia’s harsh tropical climate. And it is very hard to find one of these carbines .in .303 British built on a pre-1899 antique receiver!  Just a handful were sold as surplus and ended up in the United States.  (LUC-303)
