S&W Model 2 SA .38 Red Grip

SOLD to B.P. — Rare red grip .38 S&W 5-shot spur trigger Model 2 revolver. This one has only about 40% of its nickel finish, but it has a very pleasing grayish patina mixed in large patches with the remaining nickel. Very good mechanical condition with tight lock-up. It functions fine. This is a single action-only model. It was apparently special-ordered with the quite rare red-mottled gutta percha grips. These grip panels are both in excellent condition. (There is just one barely perceptible crack at the bottom of one grip panel.) Serial # 4328X. The red and black colors in the grip are mixed in a very attractive swirling pattern. Bore has Very Good rifling, and just scattered pits. I’d rate it 8/10. Note that since this is a black powder era S&W it would be safe to shoot only with very mild handloads. This revolver came from a ranch in southwestern Montana. (# LBY-571) Firm price: $750
