Marlin Model 1893 Semi-Deluxe Lever Action Rifle, #14505X, .30-30 Winchester, blued 26” half round-half octagonal barrel with dovetailed bead-blade front and buckhorn-style rear sights, marked with the maker’s name, address, and 1887-88-93 patent dates on top flat, and ”30-30” at breech; blued half-length tubular magazine; case hardened receiver with right-side cartridge loading and ejection ports, marked ”Marlin Safety” flanked by feather-like finials on top, and ”Model/1893” on tang; case hardened loop operating lever and hammer; varnished walnut forend with steel nosecap, and matching buttstock with checkered gutta percha buttplate having the circular ”M.F.A.Co./Marlin Safety” logo in relief. Manufactured circa 1897. Condition is fine+. Barrel retains approx. 90% original blue, mag tube 20%; receiver, hammer and lever are smooth with traces of case colors but have mostly silvered out. Stocks are smooth and solid with minor age/use marks, nice grain and color, and an added coat of finish; buttplate with sharp checkering and logo, and a half-inch chip missing at toe. Action is smooth and sure; bore is lightly etched but clean with defined rifling. Pre-1899 Marlins are hard to find in this condition. (PSSC-893)
