Charles Clement Belgian .44-40 DA Top Break – Nickel

A quite nice nickel-plated Charles Clement Belgian copy of the Smith and Wesson .44 Double action Frontier revolver. Marked “For .44 Winchester Cartridge” on the rib, and “Belgium” on the side. Serial number 559X would indicate production somewhere around 1892. The action is a bit stiff, but mechanically this revolver is quite good, with just a slight wobble on the downstroke. The ejector works properly. The original lanyard ring is present at the butt. The bore is a bit pitted but the rifling is sharp. 90%+ of the original nickel finish is still present (see photos). The “CC” (Charles Clement ) logo checkered black gutta percha grips are in unusually nice condition with no chips or cracks.  It is chambered for the man-stopping .44-40 cartridge, so this would make a good practical Federally-exempt carry piece.
