SOLD — Rare Winchester M1894 Takedown .30-30

SOLD — A rare Winchester Model 1894 takedown rifle chambered in .30-30 (“.30 WCF”) made in 1896. (Serial # 64,69X.) Special order barrel is 22″ with a near good bore that retains solid rifling and frosting with fine pitting in the grooves. Bore is a bit dull, but with good rifling that should make this a good shooter. Metal surfaces are mostly a gray patina with some areas retaining dull blue along with scattered scratches, dings, spots of corrosion and a few minor pits. Forend is missing a sliver on the right front side with a crack and dent mid-section right side. The pistol grip buttstock has a Winchester grip cap. There is no buttplate, and evidence that it had a recoil pad mounted at one time. The curved lever and matching stock profile indicate that this was of the special-order deluxe variety. Sights are a period Lyman bead front missing the bead but showing some added paint. There is a carbine folding leaf sight and also a “LYMAN”-marked folding tang peep sight. The barrel assembly and receiver fit is a bit loose, but that is quick fix by any competent gunsmith. I will look for a Winchester-marked recoil pad, but for now I’m including a brand new Tourbon brown slip-over leather recoil pad. (EUEL-112) $2,100
