Scarce Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer .32 SA Revolver

A refinished Allen & Wheelock sidehammer single action spur trigger revolver, chambered in 32 Rimfire. Serial #314 (under grips). Octagonal barrel is 3-7/8″ long, with a brass dovetailed blade front sight. Has a 6-Shot unfluted cylinder. Single action, spur trigger, side hammer, and 2 piece walnut grips. It has been estimated that only 1,000 of this model were made by Allen & Wheelock, between 1859 and 1862, when they were located in Worchester, Massachusetts. Condition: 90% reblued metal showing spots of corrosion. The refinished frame has turned to plum color. Grips have a blotchy coat of added finish over handling marks. Bore is generally bright with sound rifling. Since .32 Rimfire cartridges are so scarce, this is essentially just a Civil War-era wall hanger, albeit a quite attractive-looking one.   (IAC-607)
