Scarce .38 Remington Smoot Revolver
A scarce and desirable Remington Smoot chambered in .38 rimfire in very good+ condition, patented in 1873 and manufactured circa 1875. (Serial number 8558X.) It is a 5-shot single-action revolver with spur trigger and octagonal barrel. It has a 3.75” barrel. It retains 40%+ original nickel finish on the cylinder and 85% on the frame and barrel.. The patent date markings are crisp, so this does not appear to be have been re-nickeled! Has nice mechanical function with a fairly tight lockup. The ejector rod works well. It has original black gutta percha grips that are in nice condition. Included a period-correct brown leather holster with a tooled border and belt loop. Remington Smoots have become quite collectible and sought-after, in this century. (BIS-347)
