Rare Ruger Old Army .44 Stainless–Made in 1976, No Prefix!
A rare Ruger Old Army .44 percussion revolver, stainless steel. Excellent condition. “Pre-warning” production. (It has no “Before Using Gun – Read Warnings in Instruction manual…” rollmark.) No box. Made in 1976, and the top of the barrel is rollmarked: “Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty.” A low four-digit serial number: 407X. This blackpowder revolver is in excellent shape, with just a few handling marks and just a very faint trace of a cylinder-turn line and slight marks on the very bottom edge of grips. Appears unfired. Standard 7.5-inch barrel and target-adjustable sights. This revolver is unusual in that it is made without a prefix (stainless models only) in the serial number (1-2694 in 1975 and 2695-7790 in 1976); the 145 prefix began in 1976 and prefixes continued until the end of production in 2008. Has a wide serrated target trigger of Super Blackhawk style. Federally exempt. No FFL required. I also have a new-in-box .45 Colt conversion cylinder available, if legal in your state. But it must be ordered separately. All Ruger Old Army variants were discontinued in 2009, and they are now scarce and collectible. (CGAE-176)
