Scarce Ludwig Loewe Chilean M1895 Saddle Ring Carbine 7×57

A scarce Chilean contract Model 1895 very early production Ludwig Loewe Saddle Ring Carbine 7×57 Mauser. 17.7″ barrel. Good to Very Good overall condition. Made circa 1895. No import marks. (A pre-1968 import.)  Serial numbers are mostly matching except for the safety lever. Crest is intact on the receiver ring but faint. Bore is fairly good (gray) with sharp rifling but light pitting. Wood and metal show typical service wear, but no abuse. There are few dents beneath the bolt handle that could be steamed out. Note that this rifle is missing its swivels, saddle ring, front sight earpiece, and rear sight slider, so it is priced accordingly. The finish all looks original except for the stock, which may have been sanded at one time. (See photos.) The magazine follower still shows lots of electric blue. Serial number A126X. The A-prefix Model 1895s were some of the very earliest produced. (Circa 1895.) Most of these saddle ring carbines got rough treatment, so it is rare to find one in this condition.  This rifle is worthy of restoration with some readily-obtainable parts, or it would be a good candidate to convert into a Federally-exempt scout carbine.  (KBK-161) Firm Price: $750
