Custom Mannlicher-Stocked M1894 Swedish Mauser – Made in 1895

A custom Mannlicher-stocked M1894 Swedish Mauser, chambered in 6.5×55. Made by Mauser in Oberndorf, in 1895.  Clearly dated 1895 on the receiver ring, making its Federally exempt status indisputable. Serial numbers match. Has a “VT” Swedish arsenal inspector’s stamp. This a very attractive Swede! Typical of high-grade sporters that were made in the late 1960s and early 1970s.  Very nicely polished and blued, with 99% of the bluing remaining.  Original Swedish arsenal steel barrel has been polished and expertly re-blued. Has a Lyman windage and elevation-adjustable receiver sight (with a quickly-removable aperture, if you prefer a ghost ring). Has a brass front sight on what appears to be a Williams checkered ramp. Nice checkered full-length Mannlicher-style walnut stock with nicely-blued Mannlicher end cap. Well-fitted Pachmayr White Line recoil pad, in excellent condition. White line grip cap with one scratch and minor scuffs. The checkered walnut stock appears to be an upper-grade, made by Reinhart Fajen, with just very minor handling marks. The stock looks strong, with straight grain in the wrist, and subtle figuring below the semi-MonteCarlo cheekpiece.  The stock was not notched for installation of the Lyman receiver sight, so a standard or scout style scope mount could be substituted if you prefer. All in all, this looks like a Swede sporter that was done at considerable expense, but then just tucked away for 40+ years–so it doesn’t have the normally-found wear from hunting. The rifling is very nice — sharp and pronounced.  (EEPL-462)  Firm price: $1,575
