Chilean Loewe M1895 Mauser 7×57 Laminate Stock Sporter

A very nice sporterized Chilean contract Model 1895 Ludwig Loewe 7×57 Mauser short rifle with a handy 21.5″ barrel. Nearly excellent overall condition. No import marks. Curved short-rifle pattern bolt handle. The Chilean crest is intact but slightly softened by buffing. The bore has grayed but has sharp rifling.  It successfully passed a bullet-tip muzzle test. This should make a good shooter. The stock appears to have been recently been replaced with a quite handsome Boyd’s brown and black “Nutmeg” finger rest forend laminate stock with a Boyd’s-marked thin black rubber recoil pad. The stock is neatly fitted and is in like-new condition! The serial numbers are mismatched. Most of the metal shows nice rebluing.  The bluing on the barrel and receiver is surprisingly good. (See photos.)  The floorplate bluing is starting to thin. The floorplate has been converted to a push button release. Serial number A111X indicates that it was made in 1895.  This nifty sporter is a good candidate for scoping — either a traditional receiver mount or a forward scout mount — such as the B-Square brand mount that drops into the military rear sight base. Or use it as-is, since the original military flip-up ladder rear sight is fully serviceable. <BAC-138>
