Affordable Ludwig Loewe Chilean 7x57mm Mauser Pre-1899 Sporter

Your basic “Plain Jane” pre-1899 Ludwig Loewe Chilean Model 1895 7x57mm Mauser short rifle sporter — typical of those done in the 1970s and early 1980s.  Serial # F630X — but numbers on triggerguard, floorplate, and bolt are mismatched.  It has a 23-inch barrel, good bore and sharp rifling, but somewhat dark in the grooves. Has a good varnish finish over blond wood with straight grain. Commercial Williams-style front and rear sights have been added. The bolt handle has been nicely bent down and raked back slightly. The stock is solid with no cracks and very minor handling marks. The previous owner reported that this gun shoots well, and the action works fine. Since this rifle still has an original steel military buttplate, I’m also including a very comfortable Limbsaver black slipover recoil pad that fits quite well. (ENA-216)
