Nice Finn Valmet M39 Mosin-Nagant on 1897 Receiver!
A quite nice condition Finnish Mosin-Nagant Valmet Model 39 with just minor handling wear since it was Finnish arsenal rebuilt. It was built using a Valmet (“VKT”) 1942 barrel and a 1897-dated Russian Izhevsk receiver. The blue finish shows almost no wear on the barrel and receiver, but 80% finish on the magazine and just 10% finish on the buttplate. The stock is in nice condition with hardly any handling marks, but a typical Finnish ordnance repair to the buttstock heel. It has the early WWII style seam wood splice.Has a double sling swivel front band. The bore on this rifle is excellent — gorgeous bright and shiny with sharp rifling. It easily passed a bullet muzzle test. Has a nice light but long trigger pull. Serial #5524X with a stacked rearseanaization serial number. (See photos.) Has matching numbers on barrel, receiver, and magazine. The receiver tang is clearly dated “97” (under the wood.) The cleaning rod is present. This is one of the Pat Burns “hand select” quality M39s. They are very hard to find in this condition, and on an antique receiver! I’ve only found a few M39s that were built on antique receivers and they seem to sell immediately after I catalog them. <EEKC-616>
