Ludwig Loewe .300 Savage M1891 Argentine Mauser Sporter

A sporterized and rebarreled Ludwig Loewe M1891 Argentine Mauser carbine.  Nice overall condition as refinished and customized.   A .300 Savage sporter contour commercial barrel has been installed.  The original military stock has been refinished and had its forend shortened. The stock shows some wear with scratches and small dents from use in the field. It has some nice crossgrain figuring. (See photos.) Equipped with a Williams adjustable rear sight and a Williams ramp front sight.  Has a gently-recontoured bolt.  Take note that this rifle was originally chambered in 7.65mm Argentine Mauser.  It was re-barreled to .300 Savage, and the barrel is marked “.300 Savage”, to match  But  be sure to have its headspace checked by a gunsmith before firing.  Serial # N350X places its date of manufacture circa 1896.   The magazine serial number, bolt serial number, stock serial number, and receiver serial number all match each other. 98% bluing on the barrel and receiver, about 95% bluing on the magazine, and 80% on the bolt stop.  The reblued military buttplate is in nice shape with just a couple of scrapes and splotches. The bore is excellent: Shiny, with distinct rifling. So this should make an accurate hunting rifle or ATV Gun/Truck Gun. Note that .300 Savage softnose ammo is much more readily available than 7.65mm Argentine Mauser.  A very practical and attractive sporter that is also a Federally-exempt antique. (PAK-533)
